IFA ONE MILLION HIT PARTY
The big bash will take place at the luxurious Gotham
in Santa Monica, California. and will start at 8:30pm
on
Thursday November 2nd, 2006 until 2:00am. This will
be one of the biggest film parties of the year! There
will be tons of celebrities, red carpet, press,
paparazzi, DJ, and more. The party will be to
celebrate the success of the Independent Filmmakers
Alliance on its million hits over the last 8 months and
will also celebrate the 25th Annual American Film
Market.
The party will be co-hosted by Aveda Fredrics
Institute and the just completed feature
film Immortally Yours produced by Joe Tornatore
and executive produced by Fredric Holzberger.
A casting executive from IFA films will be in
attendance scouting the party for actors for the
IFA s upcoming film CREEPY MOVIE which is
scheduled to shoot in Los Angeles mid December.
Meet the actresses of the month, schmooze with a
variety of producers, directors, distributors and
financiers.
The last time I held a party at the American Film
Market, it was so successful I had people climbing
over the gates at Mullholland Estates just to get in!
On top of that I ended up doing a number of
distribution deals for my films!
-Andrew Van Slee,
Executive Director/IFA

IFA SET TO EXPAND
The IFA will be undergoing some major changes over
the next few months. Phase 1 of the changes will be
a video and picture share component. Within the
next 30
days, you ll be able to upload all of your pictures and
videos to our site. We are trying our best to keep
you informed about Indie happenings around North
America but we also want to give each IFA member
the opportunity to promote themselves and we want
the site to have more user generated content.
Starting in November when you sign up as a member
with the IFA you ll get your own member ID and
password. You will then automatically be emailed
your
member card with membership information. You will
be able to use this card to attend special events or
get discounts from hundreds of IFA suppliers.
We will also be launching our well anticipated online
film festival. Unfortunately, due to our massive
growth
over the past few months, we haven t been able to
get the festival up and running in October as we
anticipated. The main hurdle has been trying to co-
ordinate all of our upgrades, so that they will all work
together. So hang in there, we will have this up and
running by the end of the year. We received about
500 emails regarding the online festival and we will
get back to everyone once we have locked down a
date and know what the requirements will be. We
have 4 other phases that we will be doing to the
site,
and we will keep you posted as we announce each
phase.
IFA Welcomes Christina DeRosa as our online host
for video coverage
The last quarter of 2006 will be a major quarter for
us as we will not only be starting our video share
function but we will also be hosting one of the
biggest parties in Hollywood (as mentioned above.)
We will also be doing full online video coverage of
the American Film Market. Our new host Christina
DeRosa will be interviewing a variety of
producers, directors, distributors and more
importantly film buyers to get the scoop on what the
going rate for Indie Films is and what s hot and
what s not when it comes to film genres. All these
video segments will be available to view online as we
upload them. Do you have a question or 2 that you
would like Christina to ask the people in the know
when it comes to selling movies? If you do shoot her
an email at christina@ifilmalliance.com and
she ll try to get as many questions answered as
possible.
Below is some information about the AFM. For more
information visit their website:

The business of independent motion picture
production and distribution - a truly collaborative
process - reaches its peak every year at the
American Film Market. Over 8,000 industry leaders
converge in Santa Monica for eight days of deal-
making, screenings, seminars, red carpet premieres,
networking and parties. Participants come from over
70 countries and include acquisition and development
executives, agents, attorneys, directors, distributors,
festival directors, financiers, film commissioners,
producers, writers, the world s press all those who
provide services to the motion picture industry.
Founded in 1981, the American Film Market (AFM)
has grown steadily to become the premiere global
marketplace where Hollywood s decision-makers and
trendsetters all gather under one roof. Unlike a film
festival, the AFM is a marketplace where production
and distribution deals are closed. In just eight days,
more than $800 million in deals will be sealed on
both completed films and those that haven t started
shooting yet making AFM the must-attend industry
event.
The AFM transforms Santa Monica. The Loews Santa
Monica Beach Hotel and the Le Merigot Beach Hotel
are converted into a busy marketplace. All 23
screens on the Santa Monica Promenade and the
surrounding community become AFM screening rooms
for the entire eight-day event and eight digital and
video screening rooms are added just for the AFM.
Participants may view more than 900 screenings of
approximately 500 films - 31 new films every two
hours - the majority of them world or U.S. premieres.
Titles range from big budget blockbusters that will be
released by the major studios in the U.S., to lower
budget art and genre films recognized at international
film festivals, all destined for theaters and television
around the world.
With 8,000 attendees, 900 screenings, and seminars
programmed by leading industry organizations, the
American Film Market continues to be the pivotal
destination for independent filmmakers and business
people from all over the world.
