And the winner is...  October’s Actress of the Month: Beatriz Montanez 2006 is turning out to be a pretty good year for 28 year old Columbian native Beatriz . She has participated in a number of theatrical performances, most notably "Macbeth", which won Best Acting Ensemble in May of this year. She’s had her film "I Love Miami (Dios o Demonio)" released in Mexico and Bolivia with great reviews, the film will also be released in Argentina and Spain in the upcoming months. Beatriz plays a Cuban-American girl that finds herself pregnant amidst of her fiancée’s plans to overthrow the Cuban government, and has had the opportunity to work with Spanish Heartthrob Jaime Camil, veteran actress Ofelia Medina, and actor Juan Luis Galiardo. This budding actress is also involved with a project in Los Angeles that is pending, but is scheduled to shoot before the end of the year, in which you'll be able to see a tougher side of her. Fluent in both English and Spanish, this talented actress has also mastered Standard American, Arabic, Hispanic-Caribbean, Mexican dialects. In addition to taking numerous acting classes, Beatriz has studied a variety of dance ranging from Modern, Tap, Jazz, and Hip-hop to Ribbon dance, Afro-Cuban, Wawanco, Cumbia, Colombian and Mexican Folklore. Beatriz has received a Bill Hindman Acting Award, was referred to as Number 1 on the Miami Herald’s Theatre’s Top 10, and won an Annual Artistic/Cultural Merit for Breakthrough Performance from the El Nuevo Herald. Now, she can add one more credit to her resume "IFA Actress of the Month". With all this recognition, one might assume that this actress has her head in the clouds, but Beatriz is completely grounded, "In the meantime, I'm focused on finding a good acting coach in Los Angeles and keeping my mind and body in tip-top shape. I've also been rediscovering my passion for the types of roles and projects I want to be involved in and how to be a catalyst to make those happen. I just want to be ready.
